As we are aware, the Hon’ble Prime Minister had set the goal of achieving a Clean India by October 2, 2019 under Swachh Bharat Mission. In this regard, for observing the Pakhwada in a benefiting manner schools / institutions were suggested to undertake participatory activities where in all students and teachers / staff can participate. Our school is showing support towards Swachh Bharat Mission, by conducting various competitions to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among children and teachers and to encourage and inspire them to continue with the good practices for hygiene and sanitation in school as well as home.
On 05.08.17, Debate competition was conducted on the topic “Responsibility of Cleanliness - Individual or Society”. Staff and Students from Classes VI to IX participated in the debate and had a healthy argument on whether it is a responsibility of an Individual or Society to keep India clean? On one hand Students from Individual team told their views that mindsets need to change, If Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister can do, why can’t we maintain cleanliness, to create awareness in your apartment community and neighborhood and motivate them to take up the broom, “Stop complaining & start participating” this should be the mantra for the success of the Swachh Bharat mission. On the other hand Students from Society team told that government should continuously campaign till change in attitude of people is visible and should also impose fine on littering and urinating. Factories that causes pollution must be kept under control. Students shared Real life incidents like how public joined hands in Chennai Flood and finally debate ended with a conclusion that it is the responsibility of each and every individual to keep India clean with the support of the Government.
