An eye-opening session by the Fire Officer Department of Vellore was given in the ground of B.M.D Jain School, Vellore on 26.10.2016. Mr.C.Murugesan, District Fire Officer aroused the students’ excitement about the forthcoming festival of Lights – Diwali. Mr.Murugesan shared valuable information about maintaining safety during bursting crackers and safeguarding the crackers at home. He gave the information that, In case of any fire accidents, we must dial #101 to call Fire Service.
Later the fire officers demonstrated how to rescue a fire victim from the first or second floor of a building by climbing up a ladder. They demonstrated how to use fire extinguishers and water tubes to douse a fire. They also demonstrated and trained students how cardboards and wet gunny bags can be utilized at home to protect us from fire. Students of classes V to IX gained knowledge on how to keep themselves and their surroundings healthy and accident-free.
