Pongal is also celebrated as a Thanksgiving festival all over India. Pongal is a harvest festival that is held dear particularly by the farming community since it marks the end of the harvesting season.
We, at BMD Jain school, brought a festive look to our school campus with festoons, balloons, streamers and banners all around. The festivities commenced with Ko Matha Puja (Worship to the cow) followed by boiling of the Pongal milk in the traditional clay pot (Pongal Puja).
12.01.23 is also the National Youth Day, 160th Birth Anniversary of the Hindoo Monk of India that is, Swami Vivekananda. Flower offerings were rendered to the Swamiji’s photo with due respect. 10th standard boys participated in the Uri Adithal.
The celebration on stage began with singing the prayer song Navkar Mantra and Tamizh thaai Vaazhthu followed by Welcome Address by our Principal Mam. Academic Advisor gave a detailed introduction of the Chief Guest Mr.M.Sunil Kumar, Deputy Mayor, Vellore Corporation. Our Secretary Sri.C.Lickmichand Jain, Trustee Sri.K.Rajesh Kumar Jain and Academic Advisor Mam shared their wishes and blessings to the students.
All the invited Dignitaries including Ward Counsillors were honoured with shawl and memento. The Chief Guest Mr.M.Sunil Kumar also extended his wishes. The much awaited cultural programme was performed by Talented Artists of Kalaithaai Arakkattalai who had come from Erode District for our school celebration. These artists of various age group performed traditional martial arts, folk dances with rhythmic drum beats. A description and history of each art performance was given in detail. This was a 3 hour stage performance. Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Subject Head of Chemistry. The celebration came to a close with the National Anthem.
