The 27th Karuna Regional Conference was held at Anna Nagar, Chennai. This conference was also a platform to launch the Karuna website. Ms.V.Dhivya (Computer Teacher) and Ms.Preetha Pillai (Subject Head-English) were asked to represent our BMD Jain School for a PPT Presentation on Vegetarianism on 31st December 2022. The session commenced at 10.30 a.m. with lighting the lamp and Karuna Prayer. The Chief Guest Shri Manjit Singh Nayar, Member, Tamil Nadu State Minorities communism, spoke about skill development. Dr.S.Venkatraman, Senior consultant educational sector, UNESCO, HQ Paris presented a PPT on Humane Values in sustainable development and global citizenship education. Mr.Suresh Kankaria, Mrs.Laxmi, Mrs.Indumathi Umesh and Mr.Shravan Krishnan were some of the other dignitaries present.
The post lunch session began with teachers and principals from various schools in southern India giving their presentation on various topics like Compassion, Animal Welfare, Respect to Elders, Environment Protection, Vegetarianism etc., Ms.Preetha Pillai spoke on Vegetarianism covering up different areas like 10 reasons, Personalities, Quotes, Statistics, Food Chain and finally a Thirukkural. There was a good round of applause for the PPT presentation. At the Closing Ceremony awards were given away by the Chief Guest for the evening. Our school was conferred upon with 2nd Prize (Trophy and Rs.5000/- cash award) in Outstanding Performance for Activities Album, Annual Report and PPT Presentation. It was a memorable New Year Eve for BMDJS.
