On Occasion of Pongal, festival of harvest, on 11th January 2018, we celebrated Pongal in our school in a grand manner. The premise was decorated in a traditional manner with thatched hut and accompaniments of farmers. The celebration started in a traditional way by cooking pongal in the pot which is made to overflow, that implies a good sign of our lives to be overflowed with strength and happiness. Our Parent Chief Guests of the day was Mrs & Mr.P.Ramamohan Rao, Ph.D., Professor, V.I.T University, Vellore, Mrs & Mr.Dharmichand Jain, AGS Jewellery, Arcot, Ms.Saraswathi Bhai, w/o Shri.Rugee R.Kanyalal Jain (late), Founder of our School and Trustee Sri.K.Rajesh Kumar Jain, presided over the celebration and made the celebration more energetic. Our Guests were honoured with shawl and mala as a token of gratitude. Our Parent guest delivered an encouraging speech to the children on importance of Agriculture, Indian Food processing Units and Water. He advised not to waste food and water and avoid deforestation to get more rain which is necessary for Agriculture and wished everyone a Happy Pongal. The cultural programme started with a classical dance by our students followed by Tamil speech depicting the importance of Agriculture and traditional reasons behind Pongal celebration and Gummi Attam. Students gave an informal performance about “How to Respect Parents and olden traditional games” and sang Fusion Tamil songs. Uri Adithal was played by our X students that was the highlight of our celebration. Our Trustee Sri.K.Rajesh Kumar Jain delivered his hearty Pongal wishes to all and Uthavum Ulangal Aiyya Mr.Chandrasekar shared few words with us and requested to follow our traditions in future. Finally the programme was successful with vote of thanks by our Vice Principal. Bullock carts were decorated colourfully and students took a ride on it. Sweet Pongal was made by our staff in school campus and it was distributed to all Students and Staff.
