On the occasion of celebrating World Earth Day that falls a 22nd April, SWAGG (Save Water And Go Green) took up the initiative to spread awareness in Jain School. SWAGG is a global initiative by PSSM (Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement). The celebration of World Earth Day took place on 19.4.2023 where the Resource persons Ms.Sunitha Jagdeesh, Mr.D.Rathinavel and Ms.Sowjanya joined hands on the topic “Save Our Mother Earth”
The programme commenced with Navkar Mantra followed by Tamizh Thaai Vazhthu. The programme was attended by students of classes IX and X. The Principal Mrs. M.Malathi delivered the Welcome Speech. Our Trustee Sir Sri K.Rajesh Kumar Jain shared his wishes on safeguarding our Mother Earth and planting more trees. Academic Advisor Mam also wished the students to be responsible citizens. Mrs.M.Gayatri Subject Head of Biology introduced the Resource Persons to the audience.
Ms.Sunitha Jagadeesh, Founder and ex-Principal of Sai Vishal Centre Play Schools and also a Meditation practitioner and Teacher of PSSM since 2004 spoke on importance of saving water and earth. She also spoke on how animal and bind kingdom needs to protected. Later Mr.D.Rathinavel, Software Architect in Cognizant Technologies enthralled the attention of the students with his talk on roles and responsibilities, importance of saving Mother Earth and Water. He held an inter-active session with the audience and encouraged the students to share views on gardening and good health. Students were asked to be the “Change” themselves. A small demonstration on improving concentration was done by him. Two of our student representatives gave thought provoking speeches on the topic Save Our Mother Earth- S.Jaswanth (X D) spoke in English and G.Shavetha (IX-C) spoke in Tamil.
Later there was a photo session of the students with their drawing and slogans on the topic “Save Our Mother Earth”. ASISCE Badminton prize winners M.Darshan (IX B) and S.Dhanesh (IX B) were awarded on stage.
Finally the programme came to a close with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs.Preetha Pillai Subject Head of English. After the National Anthem students dispersed.
